Pay for new hires is falling in some blue-collar jobs!

Data from ZipRecruiter shows average salary offers for white-collar recruits have climbed since last year, but wages in several blue-collar sectors have dropped sharply!

Data from ZipRecruiter shows the wages employers are offering new hires in several blue-collar sectors of the labor market have declined this year from 2023, with retail wages falling the most by 55.9%, followed by agriculture (-24.5%), manufacturing (-17.3%) and transportation (-13.9%).

US job openings have fallen to the lowest level since January 2021!

Job openings fell more than expected in July which is the latest sign of a cooling labor market!

The number of job openings in the U.S. fell more than expected in July, tumbling to the lowest level in more than three years and representing the latest evidence that the labor market is cooling.

The Labor Department's Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey (JOLTS) report released Wednesday found there were 7.6 million job openings in July, the lowest level since January 2021 and below the 8.1 million openings expected by economists polled by LSEG.

The report also revised down the number of job openings in June by 274,000 to 7.9 million, and the number of hires was revised down by 93,000 to 5.2 million for that month.

Private sector job growth cools to 99,000 in August, well below estimate: ADP!

ADP's jobs report found the private sector in August added the fewest jobs since January 2021!

The U.S. private sector added fewer jobs than expected in August as the labor market continued to cool off amid high interest rates, according to the ADP National Employment Report released Thursday morning.

Companies added 99,000 jobs in August — fewer than the 145,000 gain predicted by LSEG economists and the fewest number of jobs added in the report since January 2021. The report also revised July's gains downward to 111,000 after the initial report found 122,000 jobs added.

ADP found that workers' pay gains, which can contribute to driving inflation, were flat in August — remaining at 4.8% for workers who stayed in their jobs and 7.3% for those who changed jobs.

LL Flooring, a hardware store once known as Lumber Liquidators, is closing all 400 stores in a bankruptcy proceeding!

The hardware company filed for bankruptcy last month but has failed to find a buyer!

National retailer LL Flooring, previously known as Lumber Liquidators, has announced it is getting out of business after 30 years following a failed effort to find a buyer just weeks after filing for bankruptcy.

The Richmond, Virginia-headquartered firm, which had 442 nationwide stores open until recently, says it will permanently shutter after negotiations with multiple bidders did not result in an offer, the company announced on its website. The company said last month it had already initiated closing down 94 stores.
