Donald Trump's media business continued its rocky start as a public company, with shares in Trump Media & Technology Group closing at a new low since listing on the Nasdaq exchange late last month.

The stock — which trades under the ticker symbol "DJT," the former president's initials — on Friday fell $5.56, or 12%, to close at $40.59 — the company's lowest level since its March 26 debut. For the week, Trump Media shares slid more than 32%. The company, which operates Trump's Truth Social platform, has lost roughly $4 billion in market value over that stretch.

Although Trump Media shares initially soared to a high of $79.38 on March 26, Wall Street analysts have questioned the company's financial prospects, saying it is overvalued and comparing it to "meme" stocks like GameStop.

Shares of Trump Media have erased all their gains since they began trading under the ticker DJT last month.
As of Monday afternoon, the stock was priced at about $36 — down from a high of $66 seen March 27.





The former president owns a majority stake in the company and his stake was valued at about $2.9 billion on Monday, down from a peak of over $6 billion after its debut on its trading debut.

That's still an eyebrow-raising valuation for former president's stake considering Trump Media lost $58 million last year and had revenue of just over $4 million.

The share price of Trump Media closed trading Wednesday down 8.57%, putting the company’s market capitalization below $4.7 billion.

DJT shares closed at $34.26.

That is well below the $70.90 that the stock opened at on March 26, its first day as a publicly traded company.

And it is nearly $2.70 per share lower than the closing price of the former shell company, Digital World Acquisition Corp. on March 22, the day that DWAC shareholders approved the merger with Trump Media that took that company public days later.

Tump Media Executives are receiving massive financial gains despite a continuously falling share price for the company's stock.

The corporate Securities and Exchange Committee (SEC) filings posted this month show us how executives in the company are being compensated in salary and promissory notes.

A promissory note is a halfway house between an IOU and a loan agreement. It is a legally binding financial instrument that guarantees the holder a sum based on an agreement between two parties.

In the case of Trump Media, the company's executives have been given promissory notes to the tune of $6.25 million.
