Elderberry Avenue

I spent some time yesterday and today mowing along the east side of the property...what a mess...so after I finished decided to attack this stand of blackberry that is killing these lovely old elderberry bushes.  Hoping I can revive them enough to produce a good crop (elderberry is highly sought after and I'm thinking it could be money maker).  But 4 hours of cutting, weeding, raking, and pitching blackberry canes and garbage, really kicked my butt...

But I feel good that I got about 5 more feet cleared, LOL.

Wow takn that is a monumental task you have there.  I have finally s tarted pruning and weeding and with all the rain we've had the weeds come up pretty easily.  My son is doing the heavy duty work of clean up.  I hear that we are going into the 90's this weekend, so have to hurry getting the weeds out while its easy.

Yes, finally a warm up after what seems like a forever winter...we've had so much rain!  With hubby out of commission for a few months, I have to temper my enthusiasm for my projects, as I need to be able to do all the mowing around the house and wetlands by myself as well and in the heat, it can really wear me out quickly. 
I just bought a pallet full of lawn soil as well, as I have areas I need to patch...I had hoped for cooler, wetter weather for that, but we'll just have to play it by ear.

That's some hard work you're doing there, but it's paying off!

Sorry to hear your hubby is out of commission for a few months takn.  That is one big load of work for you with the big property you have.  Be careful not to put yourself out of commission.  Can you get some help from some local kids, they can always use a little pocket money and summer is coming fast.
