my mom can't get a state ID.    Years ago when she was married she never changed her name with the SS administration.   But since she lived her life in the same state and didn't work outside the home she never had any problem.

she then moved to another state and since her driver's license didn't agree with her SS card she wasn't allowed to get a new driver's license or an ID card.   

the SS office wants to see her marriage license before they'll change the name on her SS card but she doesn't have a copy of her marriage license.    The county she was married in doesn't have any marriage license on the internet before the mid 70's and they want you to show up in person to request a copy of the license.   The county records are about 300 miles from here and she can't travel that far anymore.

so she can't get a state issued photo ID so she can't vote.

A new Rasmussen poll shows that an overwhelming majority of black Americans support voter ID laws backed by Republicans that Democrats claim are racist.
69 percent of likely black voters support voter ID laws while 75 percent of the general public supports these laws. Only 21 percent of voters disapprove of these laws meant to protect election integrity.
                     
Even though many prominent Democrats claim voter ID laws are racist, a firm majority of Democrats support voter ID laws at 60 percent. 89 percent of Republicans support voter ID and 77 percent of all voters support the laws.
As of right now, 36 states have passed some sort of a voter ID law. After the fiasco that was the 2020 presidential election, states are working on tightening their existing voter ID laws or enacting ones that will prevent grotesque fraud from occurring.
