Obama’s Stupid War Going Nowhere

Almost daily over the last four months we were told that Moammar Gadhafi was about ready to throw in the towel and give up.

Libya, after all, is not a distant Afghanistan or Iraq with a population of some 30 million. Yet this tiny police state of less than 7 million people, conveniently located on the Mediterranean Sea opposite nearby Europe, continues to thwart the three great powers of the NATO alliance and thousands of “Arab Spring” rebels.

In March, President Obama ordered the use of American bombers and cruise missiles to join in with the French and British to finish off the tottering Gadhafi regime. Obama was apparently stung by liberal criticism that the U.S. had done little to help rebels in their weeks-long effort to remove Gadhafi – after only belatedly supporting the successful revolutionaries in Tunisia and Egypt.

Months ago, intervention to the Obama administration seemed a short, painless way of ridding the world of a decades-long international menace while gaining praise for helping “democratic” reformers. Oil, of course, is always a subtext in any Middle Eastern war.

But almost immediately contradictions arose. Sometimes we ordered Gadhafi to leave; at other times we insisted we were only helping the rebels. Bombs seemed to be aimed at the Gadhafi family, even as we denied such targeted killing – and were reminded that U.S. law forbids the assassination of foreign leaders.

If another country put no soldiers on the ground but bombed our military installations and government it wouldn't be consider a war? Bullshit!

$608 million is hardly any money? Bullshit again!

One thing for certain even you can't argue is if Bush had done this you would be screaming war right out of the chute.

Bullshit!

Bush enforced the No-Fly zones over Iraq for 2 years before he attacked.

I don't recall any screaming...

In fact, most folks would have liked to see him continue it.

You are getting closer. "Before he attacked" are key words.

US, other Western nations declare Gadhafi regime no longer legitimate Diplomatic recognition of main opposition group means US will be able to fund Gadhafi foes

ISTANBUL
More than 30 nations, including the United States, on Friday declared that Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi's regime is no longer legitimate and formally recognized Libya's main opposition group as the country's government.

In a final statement following a meeting of the so-called Contact Group on Libya, the nations said: The "Gadhafi regime no longer has any legitimate authority in Libya," and Gadhafi and certain members of his family must go.
The group said it would deal with Libya's main opposition group — the National Transitional Council, or TNC — as "the legitimate governing authority in Libya" until an interim authority is in place.

The recognition of the Libyan opposition as the legitimate government gives foes of Gadhafi a major financial and credibility boost. Diplomatic recognition of the council means that the U.S. will be able to fund the opposition with some of the more than $30 billion in Gadhafi-regime assets that are frozen in American banks.

So it's a way to steal money without due process. Serves him right. He should of used a Swiss bank.
