Title: Westminster 2016
Post by: takncarabizniz on 02 17, 16, 12:37:35:PM
Had to watch it on Demand because the show was on 2 different channels each night and neither had reruns afterward...so we started watching the competition last night and finished up this morning...the top 7 in groups were:

Hound- Borzoi
Toy- ShihTzu
Non-Sporting - Bulldog
Herding- German Shepherd Dog
Sporting- German Short-haired Pointer
Working- Samoyed
Terrier- Skye Terrier

Best in Show-

German Short-haired Pointer

Beautifully shown, it was tough choosing between CJ, the GSP, and the German Shepherd Dog, Rumor...they were gorgeous!!!

I just loved watching it - especially the terrier group, just so I could see the Airedale and Welsh terrier entrants.  My heart is sad when I see the lovely dog that won.  My neigbor has a short haired Pointer, Maggie, that he professes to love but she exists in her lonely cage in the back of his garden, while his wife's bichon frise named Tiffany with the sparkly pink collar resides in their house as an accessory to the interior design.  Poor Maggie crys at night and she is there in all weathers in an igloo.  Not much human touching or love.  I guess she is better off than a lot of dogs that are chained or abused and she is at least fed but I have dropped so many hints about her that I could almost fall out with my neighbors.  I almost lost it when he told me that Maggie has a big lump on her side and also a tumor over her eye but he "hasn't the heart to put her down".  He is an old farmer that used to take her birding and knowing his mentality he will probably take her out and shoot her one day.  One day I am going to blow my top!

CJ the winner!

My Wife just got out of the hospital again after 2 more months and she watched that on Cable. I watch just a tiny bit, but saw the end when they picked the winners. Loved those little Mops waddling around.

I would love to run a dog kennel...I know weird.

One of my first jobs as a teen was cleaning kennels...disgusting work but I got to visit with all the pooches at the shelter.

I have an affinity for the dogs people think are too much trouble...Neapolitan Mastiffs, Greyhounds, St. Bernards, Briards and Sheep Dogs...

My friend has a dog boarding and training business.  She has done it for years and is so good with animals.  Hannah even paid attention to her commands - more so than when I give them.  I wish I had done something like that.  You don't get rich you just get happy!
